Do you like green eggs and ham?  Does the Mayor?  Find out at a wild and wacky celebration of literacy and Dr. Seuss on Saturday, March 2 beginning at 10:00 am at Bernardsville Public Library.  Dr. Seuss has long reigned as the king of early literacy, and his books and characters have become synonymous with learning to read, so Bernardsville Library has a one-of-a-kind celebration planned for his 115th birthday with some very special guests.

The festivities start at 10:00 am with Seuss-inspired breakfast refreshments and the opportunity to chat with friends, neighbors, and elected officials in a fun and positive environment.  At 10:30 am, listen and laugh along with Mayor Mary Jane Canose, Councilwoman Diane Greenfield, Councilman Tom O’Dea and Councilwoman Christine Zamarra as these special guests bring the zany magic of Dr. Seuss to life.

“Storytelling has long been a community-building vehicle,” says Youth Services Manager, Tammy Shaw, “So it makes sense that this library event has such a strong community component.”

After the stories, the celebration continues with live music featuring Mr. Ray who has been rocking songs for children about friendship, dinosaurs, rainbows and more since 1994.  When he is not entertaining children, Mr. Ray keeps busy playing with rock heavy weights such as Chuck Berry, Meatloaf, Bon Jovi, Matchbox Twenty, and Bruce Springsteen.

This event is geared toward families with young children; however, all who love the spirit Dr. Seuss are welcome to join the fun.  There is no charge to attend the program at the Library.
