Earn points for reading! Challenge yourself to read 1,000 minutes this summer! Log the number of minutes you read on your READsquared account to earn points and unlock badges. You’ll earn 1 point for every minute you read. Your first badge (Level 1) will unlock once you’ve logged 20 minutes of reading and you’ll earn your first 20 points. After that, log at least 20 minutes of reading a day and you’ll unlock a badge and earn enough points for a raffle ticket every week. You can log more than 20 minutes a day and more reading = more points = more raffle tickets!

Reading badges for Levels 2-8 can all be unlocked with 140 minutes of reading (based on 20 minutes of reading a day). Your Level 1 badge + reading badges Levels 2-8 = 1,000 minutes of reading! Once you log 1,000 minutes of reading, you’ll earn a downloadable certificate.

Reading more than 1,000 minutes? Level up for an additional challenge and unlock more badges and earn additional points! Level 2-8 badges unlock with 140 minutes of reading, but the next level of badges require more reading time. Read an additional 280 minutes to unlock Level 9-15 badges, 420 minutes for Levels 16-22, 560 for Levels 23-29, and 700 for Level 30-36 badges. All raffle tickets are worth 140 points regardless of badge values.

What counts toward reading time? All reading! Log the minutes you spend reading print books (chapter books, picture books, graphic novels, etc.), magazines, e-books and e-zines, newspapers, online articles, or listening to audio and e-audio books. Look for e-materials on our Tumblebooks, CloudLibrary, and Hoopla databases. Reading out loud to a younger sibling or having someone read to you also counts toward reading time.
